While visiting a national park, we came upon this wrapped around a tree. What is going on in this world that this tree would need to be protected from mutilation? Not only is this tree in a national park, but it is an important part of the cultural heritage of the area. What has this tree “seen?” What has it witnessed? More importantly, what thoughts enter a human’s mind that make them think, ” I want to carve into this tree and leave a scar?”
Have we really gotten to the point that we need to be reminded NOT TO STICK GUM ON A TREE? This is extremely disconcerting in all aspects. Instead of being able to enjoy nature, we have to be subjected to signage on trees to remind us not to deface them. (insert sad face here)
