
First of all, that banana peel you threw out could go into a compost bin to make more soil.
Second, a banana peel will take 2-3 months to decompose in the natural world.
Third, look at the picture above! While the banana starts to rot an decompose, it still looks quite gross on a parking lot, but the sticker never seems to decompose…
Did you ever think about the carbon footprint of a banana? Banana miles? How far it travels to get to you, the consumer? Yet, they are still relatively inexpensive. Did you really look closely at the stickers on a banana peel and go to a computer and visit the farm’s website it was grown at and learn more about the farmer? (yes, I did–try it!) Just something to think about, and more reasons to shop local!
